MOSCOW, Oct 28 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service has drawn an administrative offense report against Google for repeated non-deletion of banned information and can slap a turnover-based fine, the authority said late on Wednesday in a statement.
“Such a violation stipulates punishment in the form of an administrative fine that can amount from one twentieth to one tenth (from 5% to 10%) of an annual turnover of the Internet company,” the service said.
The report will be handed over to court to bring the company to justice.
The watchdog also said that video hosting YouTube, owned by Google, repeatedly fails to follow the request to delete the materials with the information forbidden in the country. YouTube has not erased more than 2,400 dangerous materials, including extremist and terrorist propaganda.
Since the beginning of 2021, the regulator has drawn 16 reports against Google for non-deletion of banned content and the company has been fined 32.5 million rubles.
